China says it will ban performers

Steven Spielberg, who dropped his name from a committee to design the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics over China's trade with Sudan, is among the foreign artists that could be barred in China, which said it will ban those who have ever engaged in activities deemed to "threaten national sovereignty." Canadian Broadcasting sets Olympics plan

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. will provide more than 2,400 hours of multiplatform coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Canada's public broadcaster said Tuesday that it will air 282 hours of main network Olympics coverage, 145 hours on cable news channel CBC Newsworld and 250 hours on the CBC digital channel Bold. Broadcasters, IOC, China agree on coverage

Chinese organizers, under pressure from global broadcasters and the International Olympics Committee, have apparently lifted some restrictions on TV crews for the Beijing Olympics. A meeting Wednesday -- just over four weeks before the games open -- was billed as the final face-to-face encounter among top IOC officials, broadcasters and Beijing organizers to resolve TV coverage away from the sports venues.
