The CW may be the latest network to make a bold move on Thursday.
After days of rumblings, the CW is said to have settled on launching the hot new drama "Vampire Diaries" Thursday 8 p.m., paired with "Supernatural." "Vampire Diaries" would replace the staple in the time slot, departing veteran "Smallville," whose final ninth season would air on Friday, probably at 8 p.m. Full story

Following their successful collaboration on reviving the "Beverly Hills, 90210" franchise with spinoff "90210," the CW and CBS Paramount Network TV are taking on the original "Beverly Hills, 90210's" spinoff, "Melrose Place." The plot of the CW incarnation of "Melrose Place" -- a contemporary take on the 1990s Fox soap starring Heather Locklear -- is still murky. The search is under way for a writer to pen the project. Meanwhile, Anjelah Johnson and Juliette Goglia have joined TBS' untitled Dave Caplan comedy pilot, Jill Flint has come aboard USA's 90-minute pilot "Royal Pains," and Jared Kusnitz and G Hannelius have joined the CW series "Surviving Suburbia." Full story.
