NBC's hourlong pilot "Lost in the '80s" is not going forward.
Despite the recent signings of P.J. Hogan to direct and Billy Campbell to star in the Sony TV-produced project, the network has decided not to proceed with it.
Written by Bob Brush, "Lost" centers on a family in the middle of the country and is described as "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" meets "The Ice Storm," an '80s version of "Wonder Years."
The project, exec produced by Brush and Tantamount's Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Mitch Hurwitz, was picked up to pilot in September, long before the December executive shakeup at the network that saw Angela Bromstad taking over NBC Entertainment.
Bromstad is said to be instrumental in the decision to pull the plug on "Lost."
"Friday Night Lights" director/executive producer Jeff Reiner is set to direct NBC's drama pilot "Trauma," lifting the contingency off the project. In other pilot-director signings, Simon West has been tapped for Fox's comic book adaptation "Human Target," and "House" co-exec producer/director Deran Sarafian has signed on for Fox's reincarnation project.
