Sunday Boxoffice Wrap

Invincible_2 [Posted by Nicole Sperling] Buena Vista sure can release sports films. Their 1970s football drama "Invincible" scored big at the boxoffice, earning $17 million, claiming the top spot easily at this weekend's boxoffice. No other wide release got close. Warner Bros. earned an estimated $6.5 million for its R-rated chug-a-thon "Beerfest," while the 1930s musical "Idlewild" scored an estimated $5.9 million on 973 screens. The loser of the weekend was New Line Cinema's "How to Eat Fried Worms." From Walden Media, the children's book adaptation proved unpalatable to most everyone with a meek $4 million bow. Maybe Twentieth Century Fox will want to rethink its partnership with the Philip Anschutz-owned production company. "Worms" marks the second stinker in a row for the company, following the May release of "Hoot," also sent out by New Line.

I was REALLY hoping Idlewild would do better! How many screens was Beerfest on?
