Behavior modification, Kanye style

Hands down, the funniest thing we've read today is from Kanye West's written-in-crazy blog that's keeping the whole Bonnaroo debacle very top of mind.

See, he throws a lot of public fits, followed by the inevitable press scrutiny of the aforementioned lapses in control. He's pictured here looking over his shoulder, which apparently he's doing a lot these days. His response to those who would suggest he get a grip on himself:

"Now the media is saying I'm going to anger management something or 'nother. I have never had any conversations about anger management. If anything, I need anger enhancement!!"

And the Grammy-winning chatterbox followed the mini-rant with the inevitable "lol!" because, you see, it's a hoot!

Stop, you're killing us.

Winehouse winds up

It's not every day that you get an elbow in the head from a five-time Grammy winner.

James Gostelow, a 25-year-old Londoner, told BBC News he's not upset that Amy Winehouse punched him during her performance at this weekend's Glastonbury music fest. It was all a case of mistaken identity.

What were we just saying about the volatile Miss Winehouse?

Although the scuffle got the most attention, Winehouse and her flying limb weren't the only attractions. Jay-Z (pictured) caused a stir by being the first hip-hop artist to headline the event, and the Verve gave the festival's organizer a little dressing down from stage.

Yes, that was your outer voice. At any rate, fans seemed to dig it.

 

Kanye cries foul

They pelted him with rocks and garbage.

And now he's throwing it back.

The Bonnaroo flap between Grammy-winning cry baby Kanye West and the fans who waited until 4:45 a.m. to see his truncated performance continues.

The latest salvo comes from Kanye himself, who took to his Web site and called the music festival organizers "squid brains," among other terms of endearment. He rails about logistics and says something about giving his all. (Fans beg to differ).

Spin magazine, which has covered the hubbub since the beginning, wonders how a festival that could handle the likes of Metallica, Pearl Jam and the Flaming Lips could've fallen so far down on the job with His High-Handedness.

How indeed.

 

Disrespect, Kanye style

Every once in a while, diva behavior is not rewarded.

The crowd at the Bonnaroo music festival near Nashville this weekend showed that the afterglow they felt in the wake of a three-hour Pearl Jam performance could only last so long.

To wit: It did not stretch past 4:30 a.m. when Grammy-winning famous-hissy-fit-thrower Kanye West finally took to the stage.

He was two hours late, after having rescheduled an earlier evening performance because he wanted everybody to see the black-light neon-effects of his current Glow-in-the-Dark tour.

By the time he showed up, those who had stayed around were a bit on the surly side. Who could blame them as they jeered, shouting "Kanye sucks!" and other such unpleasantries. They tossed their glow sticks in frustration! For his part, he didn't acknowledge being late, had little to say to the crowd, and cut the show short. Not exactly the way to win fans.

Aside from rain storms that have happened nearly every year of the festival's seven-year history, the Kanye act seems to be one of the only downers among the 150 performances that drew nearly 80,000 people. A definite highlight, judging from lots of blog chatter, was Pearl Jam in its first festival gig since 2000 and its non-diva-like leader Eddie Vedder (pictured above).

Viva la diva

Three decades and a whole world of sex separate them. But when it comes to promoting a record, they both know the name of the game -- get on the road and shake that money maker.

This weekend, the princess of cross-over bubble gummy pop and the grand dame of dance- and radio-ready music took to two very different stages, Miley Cyrus at the tween-friendly shriek-heavy KIIS-FM-backed Wango Tango and Madonna at the U.K.'s Radio 1 Big Weekend.

Each showed off her respective assets, but if it hadn't been for a feat of wardrobe engineering, multiple Grammy-winning ripped superstar Madonna's could've come popping right out of her bustier. Hey, are those new?

Aside from the wild bed head and rocker stance, Miley continued to try to buff her wholesome girl-next-door image and regain the trust of suspicious soccer moms everywhere by covering up (no cleavage here!). There was nary a satin bed sheet to be found anywhere at the Irvine stadium.

Sex tape, superspy, Snoop

Still riding high (that's a relative term) from this weekend's Coachella? By the way, who has the pig? Thought it would be a good time to share some tidbits from the world of music:

Vivid Entertainment (don't pretend you don't know what that is) says it's releasing a sex video of the legendary psychedelic guitarist Jimi Hendrix, whose outrageous performances no doubt inspired many a groupie to dispense with formality and articles of clothing. What better come on than "Are You Experienced?" at eardrum-shattering volume? The tape, bought from a collector, allegedly shows Hendrix with not one but two of the aforementioned women, though there's still some debate about whether it's authentic.

Even death (at the criminally young age of 27) doesn't spare the famous from the YouTube effect.

Hendrix, who got his start playing backup for icons like Little Richard and the Isley Brothers, recorded only three records with his Jimi Hendrix Experience, and all three are now in the Grammy Hall of Fame. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the early '90s.

Multiple Grammy winner Amy Winehouse -- in or out of the big house? -- is rumored to be working on music for the next Bond flick, "Quantum of Solace." Her partner in, um, crime? Grammy winning producer Mark Ronson, who also worked on her hit record "Back to Black."

Seeing as the last few times we've seen her, the painfully thin neo-soul sista was on her way to jail (pictured) and doing shots while balancing a friend's baby on her hip, we'd much rather think of her in the studio creating something Bondish. Gotta be better than Madonna's "Die Another Day," right?

Snoop Dogg and Ne-Yo: Emmy contenders? Tom O'Neill over at Gold Derby begs (begs!) the Daytime Emmy folks to create a guest star category, mainly so Snoop's upcoming appearances on "One Life to Live" and Ne-Yo's drop by on "All My Children" can be considered for the TV backslapfest.

Soap fans out there already know that these melodramatic serials have always been magnets for movie giants (Elizabeth Taylor!) and rock stars (Mick Jagger!) Too late for their Emmys, but there's still time to put the hip-hop giants side-by-side with the likes of Dr. Phil and Judge Judy. That's dope.

Hot hot heat

Jack Johnson, the mellow mahlo surprise chart topper, is up tonight, and the weekend will see a parade of musical talent -- Grammy winners, million sellers, uber-hipsters like Prince, M.I.A., the Raconteurs, Kraftwerk, Hot Chip, Tegan and Sara, My Morning Jacket, VHS or Beta, and Portishead, just to give a topline.

But if you're regretting your decision to sit out this year's Coachella, just take a gander at this Day 1 photo and know that it's expected to be a brain-frying 101 degrees (feels like 112!) in Indio this weekend.

Seen one Coachella, definitely not seen them all. Still, there's just something about this year's desert gathering that made us say, nope, not for love nor money will we haul it to BFE, stand in these greenhouse-effect tents and sweat to the newbies (and some oldies).
