Fox's 'Dance' tops Thursday

On an uneventful Thursday night in the ratings, NBC's rising tide may have slightly lifted "Last Comic Standing" -- the reality competition matched it's highest post-premiere demo rating this summer.

The two-hour "Standing" (5.3 million viewers, 2.1/7) placed second for the night with its best number in a few weeks, behind Fox's steady "So You Think You Can Dance" (8.6 million, 3.0/9).

Fox topped the night with “Dance” and lead-in “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader.” NBC was second, with “Fear Itself” at 10 p.m.

CBS aired “Million Dollar Password” (6.8 million, 1.7/6), a “CSI” repeat (7.2 million, 1.7/5) and “Swingtown” (5.7 million, 1.9/6), which dropped 10% to hit a new low.

ABC aired repeats and the 10 p.m. premiere of its six-episode hospital documentary series “Hopkins” (5.8 million, 1.6/5). “Hopkins” placed second in the hour after “Swingtown,” but built 77% on its lead in.

The CW aired repeats (averaging 1.6 million, 0.5/2).
