Mark Burnett is getting a star on the Walk of Fame
... but so are Tinkerbell and The Village People.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Committee just announced their annual picks for the highest honor a sidewalk can bestow.
And once again, the committee drunkenly swerved between highly deserving recipients and a few WTF head-scratchers.
The television honorees are Mark Burnett, Felicity Huffman, Chuck Lorre, William Petersen, Kyra Sedgwick and John Stamos.
Film: Tinkerbell, Tim Burton, Leslie Caron, Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., Charles Durning, Ralph Fiennes, Hugh Jackman, Sir Ben Kingsley and William H. Macy.
Music and radio: Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds, Dave Koz, The Miracles, Doug Morris, RUSH, Shakira, The Village People, Bill Handel and Harry Shearer.
“After much deliberation, the Walk of Fame committee has selected 25 of our greatest talents," said Earl Lestz, Chairman of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee, in the press release. "Our committee worked diligently to select those stars which would appeal to the masses.”
Let’s take a moment to appreciate that Tinkerbell ... isn’t even a real person.
Let's take a second moment to appreciate that Tinkerbell ... was actually listed first in the press release.
So if you’re Sir Ben Kingsley ... doesn’t that inherently take some of the fun out of it?
Still, congrats to the TV group: Burnett, Huffman, Lorre, Petersen, Sedgwick and Stamos.
