CBS' 'Flashpoint' tops Friday

The premiere of scripted Canadian acquisition "Flashpoint" kept CBS on top Friday with a surprisingly fair debut considering its time period.

Expectations were below-the-floor for "Flashpoint" (8 million viewers, 1.9/6). The show received mixed reviews from critics. Yet the 10 p.m. mid-summer premiere built significantly on its lead in (a “Numbers” repeat”) to best news magazines on ABC and NBC to win the night. Its demo rating is akin to how “Moonlight” fared at 9 p.m. Fridays in-season before getting the hook.
