Showtime shows 'Dexter' preview
Comic-Con -- Showtime screened a first-look trailer of the upcoming third season of "Dexter" to a rapturous reception at Comic-Con. The clips suggest Dexter impulsively kills somebody who did not deserve it, violating the code of conduct laid down by his father. Complications ensue.
The issue of Dexter continuing to evolve away from his father’s rules, and gaining bona fide emotions, prompts a question of how long the show can continue while maintaining its current course.
“We talk about how long can we keep doing this, how long should we keep doing this and show long will Dexter keep learning about himself,” said executive producer Clyde Phillips. “If he completely becomes fully human and starts feeling guilty or remorse, then the show’s over. How do we not get there and continue to evolve?”
One fan suggested given Showtime’s corporate parent, the show’s location and the fact that Dexter works as a blood-spatter analyst, that Dexter should do a guest stint on “CSI Miami.”
“Be great if I got called in on a ‘CSI’ episode and all I did was help them solve a crime,” "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall says.
