Olympics ratings domination continues

NBC's ratings conquest continued Wednesday. The network's Beijing Olympics coverage was down 1% on Athens in the meter market overnights (18.0/27), and nearly doubled the combined ratings of broadcast
competitors during primetime (24.7 million, 8.2 preliminary adults 18 to 49 average and a 23 share).

Through 13 days, NBC Universal's Olympic coverage has surpassed the 16-day viewership total for the entire Lillehammer Winter Olympics, making it the second most viewed television event in U.S. history

Still, with swimming and competitive gymnastics concluded, last night marked NBC's second-weakest Olympics performance to date. During the coverage, Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor won their second consecutive the gold medal in beach volleyball. While the scheduled Olympics debut of BMX racing was delayed due to rain in Beijing.

CBS placed second with repeats and "Greatest American Dog" (1.3/4). ABC was third with repeats and "Primetime: Crime" (1.4/4). Fox was fourth with repeats (1.2/3).
