'Wipeout,' 'Got Talent' hit season lows

UPDATED: Still no Olympics halo for NBC as "America's Got Talent" returned Tuesday night to its lowest rating all summer.

A two-hour "Talent" (11 million viewers, 3.1 adults 18-49 rating and a 9 share ) starting at 8 p.m. easily led the night and tied its season low, while the return of ABC's "Wipeout" (6.5 million, 2.3/7) fell sharply from its prior average to  post a new season low. NBC points out that "Talent" has typically started at 9 p.m. this summer, so a lower-than-average number was to be expected to some degree.

At 9 p.m., an original of ABC's "Wanna Bet?" (4. 2 million, 1.5/4) placed last in the hour, bested by CBS' "Big Brother" (6.4 million, 2.3/6). At 10 p.m., NBC's convention coverage continued to best competitors (6 million, 1.6/5), with ABC (4.3 million, 1.03) and CBS (3.4 million, 1.0/3) tied.

Overall, NBC won the night in the demo and total viewers, followed by Fox airing repeats and a tied ABC and CBS for third.
