Baldwin vs. NBC; TNT's bar raised; Cursed RNC

>> In the New Yorker, Alec Baldwin rips into NBC in the safest possible way: Criticize everybody but the Big Boss.

"Zucker, I like ... but everybody who works for Zucker I have reservations about ... If the show does succeed, it’ll be something of a f--king miracle, because NBC hasn’t done a f--king thing to help this show at all. This show is the red-headed stepchild in the lineup. They’ve gone out of their way to wring the last drops out of 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Scrubs.' Those shows are done! They’re cooked!"

Yes, there's nothing worse than a show laboring in obscurity on a major broadcast network's Thursday night primetime lineup. NBC has done nothing for "30 Rock" -- except renew the series after its first season despite terrible ratings, give it a lead-in from its highest-rated comedy "The Office" and promote the heck out of it to help the show earn 17 Emmy noms this year.

>> TNT's "Raising the Bar" does just that: 7.7 million total viewers, the most-watched ad-supported basic cable series premiere ever

>> Report: NBC's "The Philanthropist" update. The lead character -- a wealthy, globe-trotting, superhero executive -- has been changed to include more character flaws and drug-addled corporate intrigue ... wait, what do you mean that's not the show?

>> Cursed Republican National Convention now has to compete with NFL

>>
Lisa de Moraes on "90210" -- " For a show nobody's seen, you couldn't ask for better publicity"

>> NBC to put the five premiere episodes that they actually have complete on Hulu one week before they premiere

>> Sadly, "porn addiction" sounds a lot less cool than "sex addiction"  ...  Also: Damon Lindelof Q&A
