ABC picks up 'Modern Family'

Sources say ABC has made its first series pickup for the fall season: Modern Family, a single camera mockumentary about about three suburban couples (traditional, gay and multi-ethnic).

ABC has ordered 13 episodes from 20th TV and writer-producers Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd (Back to You).

ABC has been excited about this comedy, which sources say tested strong. The show stars Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. ABC is also expected to pickup drama Flash Forward, which the network has teased during Lost, though an official decision is still pending.
