'Dollhouse' finale hits new ratings low
Not good: Fox's Dollhouse hit its lowest rating ever for its season finale.
Joss Whedon's series was seen by 2.8 million viewers and earned a 1.0 national adults 18-49 rating. Prison Break pulled a slightly lower number -- 3 million viewers, 0.9 rating.
The chances of Dollhouse getting a second season are extremely slim at this point. A couple months ago, the sense was that Fox was hoping to bring back either Terminator or Dollhouse. Then Terminator fell out of the running. But I now don't see Fox bringing back Dollhouse either, with its numbers sliding with each episode (see full season chart below). A 1.1 is a bubble show -- on the CW. Sure, the show pulls a strong percentage gain on DVR, increasing more than 30% per episode. But it would take some creative financing to make a renewal work and a giant leap of faith considering that ratings for serialized shows tend to drop between seasons.
Here's Dollhouse season-to-date:
Also, a message on Hulu says the 13th episode of Dollhouse will not be available online, though it's a safe bet it will end up on the DVD (Dollhouse: Season One DVD / Blu-ray on Amazon).
Otherwise Friday: CBS won the night, with Ghost Whisper (9.4 million, 2.2) a bit softer than usual, followed by on par episodes of Flashpoint (8.6 million, 1.8) and Numbers (9.5 million, 2.0). ABC and NBC aired movies, repeats and news.
