Ratings: 'Dollhouse' finale on par

Fox's "Dollhouse" concluded on a familiar ratings note Friday night, while a battle of reality remakes had a tight race.

The "Dollhouse" series finale drew 2.2 million viewers and a 0.8 preliminary adults 18-49 rating, providing a weak lead-in for the return of Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" (3.3 million, 1.4) at 9 p.m. For "Nightmares," that's down 42% from its premiere a year ago on Thursday nights.

"Nightmares" faced another format familiar to BBC America fans, ABC's "Shark Tank" (4.4 million, 1.5), which edged out its reality rival. Still, this is Fox's best performance in this tough time period all season.

Also returning on Friday was the CW's "Smallville" (2.5 million, 1.1), which picked up where it left off in November.

Overall: CBS won the night with "Ghost Whisperer" (8.3 million, 1.9), "Medium" (8.0 million, 1.8) and "Numbers" (8.7 million, 1.8). ABC was second and also aired "Supernanny" (4.7 million, 1.3) and "20/20" (8.1 million, 1.7). NBC was third with a repeat, "Dateline" (7.3 million, 1.4) and "The Jay Leno Show" (4.9 million, 1.4).
