"Grey's Anatomy" closed the season Thursday with a strong two-hour finale showing that drew 15 million total viewers and a 5.3 rating/15 share in the 18-49 demo, according to preliminary Nielsen estimates. While those numbers were down from last year's finale, it was good enough to both beat all comers from 9-11 p.m. and give ABC victory for the night.
CBS also got solid results from its 9-11 p.m. pairing of finale for "CSI" and "The Mentalist," which both did 3.2/9 in 18-49; "Mentalist" matched "Grey's" in total viewers while CSI was just under that tally, with 14.2 million.
While NBC's finales for "The Office" (3.4/10, 6.6 million) and "30 Rock" (2.8/8, 5.5 million) were a distant third at 9-10 p.m., both stayed even with their year-ago finale numbers. Fox and NBC had better luck at 8 p.m., finishing 1-2 with "Bones" (2.8/10, 9.2 million) and the pairing of "Community" (2.0/7, 4.4 million) and "Parks & Recreation" (2.1/7, 4.5 million).
