Pilots at NBC, HBO expand casts

Shawn Hatosy has joined the cast of NBC's drama pilot "LAPD," and Kristin Bauer has signed to co-star in the HBO's hourlong pilot "Hung."

Meanwhile, two new CW series have added recurrings: David Giuntoli on "Privileged" and Greg Ellis on "Valentine." In addition, Brandon Vayda and Hayley Marie Norman have signed on for arcs on the CW's "90210" and Starz's "Crash," respectively. Full story.

Levitan, Lloyd land project at ABC

ABC is teaming up with comedy veterans Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd on a single-camera project that follows three American families as told through the eyes of a Dutch documentary filmmaker.

The untitled comedy, which has received a put pilot commitment with a significant penalty, will be produced by 20th Century Fox TV, where Levitan and Lloyd have an overall deal. It is intended to be shot documentary-style, centering on one traditional and two untraditional families. Full story.

Echikunwoke becomes 'Miami' regular

Megalyn Echikunwoke, who last month joined CBS' "CSI: Miami" as a recurring, has been bumped up to series regular.

Meanwhile, Anjelah Johnson and Juliette Goglia have joined TBS' untitled Dave Caplan comedy pilot, Jill Flint has come aboard USA's 90-minute pilot "Royal Pains," and Jared Kusnitz and G Hannelius have joined the CW series "Surviving Suburbia." Full story.

Lifetime sets daytime originals

Lifetime is launching its first slate of original unscripted programming for daytime, greenlighting a cooking show as well as two weeklong special programs, one centered on weight loss and the other featuring medium/clairvoyant Lisa Williams making her network return. Full story.

Former "Sports Night" co-stars Teri Polo and Josh Charles will play a newly married couple in an upcoming episode of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU."

In a slew of other casting news, Michael Cudlitz has come aboard and Benjamin McKenzie has officially joined the cast of NBC's drama pilot "LAPD," Lorna Scott has joined the CW's "Surviving Suburbia," Josh Stamberg has been cast in Lifetime's drama pilot "Drop Dead Diva," Charlie Saxton has come aboard HBO's hourlong pilot "Hung," Whitney Cummings has joined MyNetworkTV's new sketch-comedy series "The Tony Rock Project," and Bella Thorne has been added to NBC's drama series "My Own Worst Enemy."

In addition, Mei Melancon has landed a multiepisode arc on Showtime's "The L Word," and Krysten Ritter has joined AMC's "Breaking Bad" as a recurring. Full story.

'Stargate' stays open at Sci Fi

Sci Fi Channel isn't about to let down "Stargate" fans.

The network is set to announce the order of a new series from MGM Television, "Stargate: Universe," that will mark the third entry in Sci Fi's longest-running original series franchise.

The green light comes on the heels of Sci Fi's confirming Thursday that "Stargate: Atlantis" will not receive a sixth-season order. The "Universe" pickup ensures the continuation of the popular "Stargate" franchise, which has been on the air in various incarnations since 1997. Full story.

Regina King, Kevin Alejandro and Michael McGrady have been cast in NBC's pilot "LAPD."
