Bradley Whitford returns to 'Duty'

Emmy winner Bradley Whitford is returning to NBC as star-producer of the single-camera comedy pilot "Off Duty." Romany Malco has been tapped as the second lead in the UMS-produced buddy comedy, which has been greenlighted for production following a cast-contingent pilot order in July. Full story

NBC sets sights on 'Mistakes'

NBC is developing an hourlong drama based on the "do-over" novel "Pretty Little Mistakes," with "Friday Night Lights" showrunner Jason Katims supervising the project from the writing team of Bruce Marshall Romans and Kiersten Van Horne. "Mistakes," from Universal Media Studios, is based on the novel by Heather McElhatton that lets readers decide which path the female protagonist will take at the end of each chapter. It starts out with a high school graduation, after which the reader makes one of two possible choices -- college or travel -- ultimately leading to 150 possible endings. Full story

NBC has a Brush with the '80s

The network has handed a director-contingent pilot order to an hourlong project from "The Wonder Years" writer-producer Bob Brush.

The project, produced by Sony Pictures TV and studio-based Tantamount, is described as "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" meets "The Ice Storm." Full story.

Pilots at NBC, HBO expand casts

Shawn Hatosy has joined the cast of NBC's drama pilot "LAPD," and Kristin Bauer has signed to co-star in the HBO's hourlong pilot "Hung."

Meanwhile, two new CW series have added recurrings: David Giuntoli on "Privileged" and Greg Ellis on "Valentine." In addition, Brandon Vayda and Hayley Marie Norman have signed on for arcs on the CW's "90210" and Starz's "Crash," respectively. Full story.
