A Deal Between UMG and MySpace Forthcoming?

Universal Music Group and MySpace are close to a settlement in their 2006 copyright lawsuit, reports Digital Music News.
The website reports that the deal is being spurred by similar talks between UMG and Facebook and "and various stakeholders are orchestrating media leaks to propel their agendas."
A deal would be somewhat surprising given UMG chief Zach Horowitz's tough talk on copyright protections for music used on social networking sites. But Silicon Alley Reporter speculates the settlement is probably tied to MySpace's plan to launch a new music-devoted platform.
