Hollywood Docket: Polanski bail; piracy wins

- A Swiss court has approved Roman Polanski's bail offer of $4.5 million. The director will be kept in jail until the Swiss Justice Ministry decides whether to appeal his release. If Polanski is let out of detention, he'll be kept under house arrest under electronic monitoring.
- A Tokyo District Court has ordered Just Online, the operator of video sharing website TV Break, to stop distributing files that infringe copyrights held by Japan's authors' and composers' society. Just Online was also ordered to pay $1 million in damages.
- The music industry is claiming some success in piracy battles, pointing out that sales of music have increased 18 percent in Sweden over the first nine months of 2009. The timing coincides with a guilty verdict for Swedish-based founders of Pirate Bay and new tougher laws against copyright infringement in the country.
