Mon Dec 28, 2009 @ 11:45AM PSTEntertainment law news while figuring out what to do with our Christmas tree this morning:
- Magazine publisher Conde Nast has filed a copyright infringement suit against unknown people who hacked computers and distributed unreleased content, including most of GQ's December issue.
- Why has "Family Guy" been able to repeatedly (and relentlessly) parody "Star Wars" over the years? Because Fox's lawyers got permission from George Lucas, says "Guy" mastermind Seth MacFarlane.
- Talent lawyers, start familiarizing yourself with A-list quarterbacks: TMZ is extending its tawdry tentacles into coverage of sports stars.
- Modern Warfare 2 is the most-pirated video game of 2009. Modern warfare, indeed.
- "Avatar: The Making of the Bootleg."
- Boing Boing, well-known hater of lawyer demand letters, hires MItchell Silberberg & Knupp, well-known sender of said demand letters, to defend allegations of republishing false statements about Demi Moore. Yes, ironic.
